Famoco launches Biometric FP Series with IDEMIA

At the Trustech exhibition in Cannes, a global event dedicated to secure payment and identification technologies, Famoco, the leading French company for secure professional terminals, announces in collaboration with the IDEMIA group, the leader of trusted identities in an increasingly digital world, the integration of fingerprint readers within its secure Android devices.

A major innovation in a changing market

The digitalization of payment methods is shaking up the sector. Security and traceability needs have never been greater, the demand from emerging countries is growing rapidly, and the convergence between identity and payment is now a reality. At the heart of all these changes, the French company, Famoco, leader of secure professional terminals, already at the origin of the next-generation transport ticket validator, in partnership with Keolis, presented its FX100 and FX200 terminals with a fingerprint reader, designed in collaboration with the IDEMIA group, at Trustech.

Biometrics: a fast-growing technology

Currently, biometrics is one of the preferred technologies to meet security, traceability and identification requirements. According to a study by Marketwired, the global market for biometric technologies will increase from $ 14.9 billion in 2015 to $ 41.5 billion in 2020. By authenticating people with fingerprint, iris or facial expression, biometrics ensures a high level of security while allowing quick and unique identification of users.

State-of-the-art French technology

This French innovation allows the reading and recording of fingerprints from a FX Series terminal running a secure and remotely controlled Android system. This state-of-the-art technology offers the ability to quickly identify a person and is particularly suited to markets in emerging countries where the need for banking and identification are growing.

“Thanks to Augmented Identity, IDEMIA gives citizens and consumers the opportunity to interact, pay or connect by taking advantage of a connected environment in more than 180 countries,” says Ea Chaillioux, VP Digital Business Solutions Line for Mobile Operators from IDEMIA, “We are happy to support Famoco by providing fingerprint sensors and biometrics expertise. IDEMIA facilitates the integration and deployment of FAMOCO devices in emerging markets. Augmented Identity is essential in these markets, to ensure trusted identification and authentication to enable customers to access value-added services in complete security.

Lionel Baraban, CEO of Famoco, adds: “Thanks to this collaboration with IDEMIA, we offer a unique solution that meets increasingly stringent regulatory requirements for identification. We are able to offer a mobile, innovative and secure product to our customers, that is suitable for many sectors of activity at a very competitive price.
