The Famoco team climbs the highest summit in North Africa: Toubkal

To celebrate our excellent results, we organized a team building trip to Morocco!

From the 17th to 20th November 2016, 35 Famoco employees trekked Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa culminating at 4,167 meters above sea level.

We trekked more than 40 km over 2 days in the Atlas mountains, accompanied by 5 local guides. The team was composed of 15 different nationalities with ages ranging from 22 to 49 years old.

On our first day we set off  from the village of Imlil and walked 5h30 to the refuge situated at 3,200 meters of altitude.

After a short night in what felt like sub-zero temperatures (in reality it was probably 10C!) we left before dawn, equipped with crampons and ice picks for 4h30 of accession to the summit.

The whole team made it to the top in perfect weather conditions to take in the breathtaking views!

The shortness of breath and aching joints were quickly forgotten with the realisation of what we had achieved. We were at 4,167 meters above seal level!

After a break and lots of pictures to capture the moment, it was time to head back down. Team spirit was high, and the descent seemed to go much faster than the ascent! We stopped at the refuge to refuel before continuing down to Imlil to arrive after dusk and more than 11 hours of walking.

Our trip to Morocco was an unforgettable experience and just as Phil Jackson said “The strength of the team is each member. The strength of each member is the team.”

Teamwork allowed us to surpass ourselves and go beyond what we imagined possible. In this sense, our adventure reflects what the company is experiencing right now: exceeding our objectives and succeeding in our challenges!
