Founded by Pierre Baussay, C-Digit specializes in digital payment solutions designed to
meet the specific needs of merchants in French Polynesia.

After several years of experience in the banking sector, Pierre Baussay decided to put his
expertise and in-depth knowledge of the payment ecosystem at the service of local businesses by developing a secure solution tailored to the specific requirements of the Tahitian market.
The ApiPay solution, combined with Famoco Pay, enables merchants to accept contactless payments with enhanced security while providing a smooth and seamless payment experience for customers.

The company’s operational needs

Although French Polynesia is a French territory, its status as an overseas collectivity (COM) gives it regulatory autonomy, its own local currency (the CFP franc), and a banking
framework specific to the territory. For C-Digit, the main challenge was therefore to find a reliable, certified payment solution that could operate locally, in a market with a limited
number of payment providers and where conventional European solutions are often not
suited to local requirements.

The solution therefore needed to meet several key requirements: process contactless EMV
payments, support both NFC-enabled bank cards and digital wallets, ensure a high level of security and compliance, while remaining easy to deploy and intuitive for merchants to
use.

What we built together

The close collaboration between C-Digit and Famoco helped ensure that the solution
complies with local regulatory requirements. Unlike typical SoftPOS use cases, which are
often associated with lower-value payments, merchants in French Polynesia use the solution as a fully fledged payment terminal, processing transactions ranging from a few dozen euros to several thousand euros.

How the solution works in practice ?

• The amount is entered in CFP francs on a Famoco mobile device.
• ApiPay converts the amount into euros and sends it to Famoco Pay.
• The payment is validated via NFC by tapping the card on the device, with online PIN authentication when required.
• Famoco Pay securely processes the banking transaction, acting as a payment services agent on behalf of a major national bank.

Today, the solution is used by a wide range of merchants, including jewelry stores, clothing retailers, restaurants and local artisans.
