PikIT Services

PikIT Services leverages Famoco solutions to digitalize and optimize

banana plantation management.

About PikIT Services

PikIT Services is a software solutions provider helping agricultural businesses digitalize and manage their field operations. Primarily operating in banana plantations in Martinique, as well as in Guadeloupe and Côte d’Ivoire, PikIT Services supports plantation managers in their daily activities through a collaborative mobile application and a digital platform designed to simplify the collection, management and sharing of agricultural data.

PikIT Services has neither a website nor a social media presence. Its growth relies primarily on close relationships with plantation operators and word of mouth.

The company’s operational needs

Banana production requires a significant workforce at specific times of the year. For plantation operators, having clear visibility into harvest volumes and their locations is therefore essential to anticipate staffing needs and organize teams efficiently, particularly in Martinique, where recruiting agricultural workers can be challenging. To address these challenges, plantation operators are exploring new technological solutions to modernize their practices over the long term.

The equipment previously used for counting had become heavily worn, creating a need for a more robust solution capable of withstanding demanding field conditions over time while minimizing breakdowns and operational disruptions.

What we built together

The rugged Famoco FX325 devices, replace traditional scanners and serve as fully functional handheld computers for field operations. Combined with the PikAgro application, they go beyond simple counting, enabling the collection of more detailed information directly in the plantations.

The solution makes it possible to track banana bunches from the initial counting stage through to harvesting, collecting data such as banana quality and size, the number of hands per banana plant, and the reasons why certain bunches are excluded from harvesting.

Geolocation also helps identify which plots have already been harvested and which still need attention. From a computer or directly Famoco Tab 10, plantation managers can access this information and direct harvesting teams to the appropriate plots.

This visibility enables plantation operators to better anticipate upcoming harvests, workforce requirements and team organization. The geolocated data collected also helps managers make more informed agronomic decisions to optimize yields.

The Famoco MDM platform enables PikIT Services to remotely manage and configure devices according to operational needs, including application deployment, kiosk mode activation and device locking for dedicated scanning operations.

Famoco OS, the operating system powering Famoco devices, provides a controlled environment dedicated to business applications. By limiting communications with third-party services, it helps strengthen PikIT Services’ and its customers’ control over their data.

One of our customers used to call us every 10 days because of issues with basic handheld scanners. Since we replaced them with FX325 devices, we haven’t received a single support call from that customer. (…) Plantation managers are very satisfied with the solution and regularly ask us to expand it to additional use cases.
